RS232 .NET Component Adds Support for XMODEM, YMODEM, and ZMODEM File Transfers

Scientific Component has released PortController.NET version 2.0 for Windows 98, ME, 2000 and Windows XP, a serial communications component that simplifies RS232 communication in the .NET Framework.

PortController.NET 2.0 extends the original PortController.NET API to enable developers to perform multithreaded file transfers using industry standard XMODEM, YMODEM, and ZMODEM protocols. Additionally, PortController.NET v2.0 features automatic port discovery and expanded port configuration capabilities, along with the ability to read and write text and binary data, set communications parameters, and manage control line and handshaking states.

Incorporating PortController.NET into an application helps developers create software that interacts with laboratory instruments, navigational devices, and medical equipment in minutes, instead of the days or weeks it might otherwise take to implement a solution from scratch.

PortController.NET 2.0 comes with 15 example applications that demonstrate a variety of programming techniques in Visual Basic.NET, C#, and C++. PortController.NET source code is also available for purchase.
